Review: Sofitel Legend Hotel Metropole Hanoi Club Floor

Hotel Metropole Hanoi Club Floor pool

Recognised by TripAdvisor as one of the top destinations in the world, Hanoi, Vietnam is home to the award-winning Sofitel Legend Hotel MetropoleĀ and its ultra-luxurious Hotel Metropole Hanoi Club Floor. Built in 1901, the stately Hotel Metropole Hanoi has long been the hotel of choice for diplomats and celebrities including Presidents of the United States, Charlie Chaplin, Jane Fonda, and Sir Roger Moore. And if it is good enough for a 007, it is good enough for Luxe Travel Family.

With 364 rooms and suites, you can stay in the historical Metropole Wing, the newer and more contemporary Opera Wing, or on the exclusiveĀ Hotel Metropole Hanoi Club Floor – a hotel within a hotel and our home base during our vacation in Hanoi.

Although the Club Floor privileges come with a price, here is why I believe the Hotel Metropole Hanoi Club Floor offers excellent value for travelling families.

Access to the Club Metropole Lounge

Sofitel Legend Hotel Metropole Hanoi Club Floor guests enjoy complimentary all-day access to the spacious Club Metropole Lounge with drinks, international newspapers, tables for card games, book nooks for reading, WiFi, and a dedicated concierge.

Club Floor guests can also go to the Club Metropole Lounge for a buffet-style breakfast, traditional high tea, and an evening cocktail event. And once you pay to stay in a Club Floor room or suite, there is no additional charge for the food and drinks. The evening cocktail event features live piano music, a variety of canapes and desserts, as well as an impressive drink menu including wines, champagne cocktails, and martinis – the perfect ending to a day exploring Hanoi.

Convenient access to high-quality food, drinks, and the living room-like Club Metropole Lounge space throughout the day is a sanity-saving option for many travelling families. And if you use the Club Metropole Lounge for breakfast, afternoon tea, as well as evening cocktails and canapes, a stay on the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi Club Floor offers excellent value.

Sofitel Legend Hotel Metropole Hanoi Club Floor Guest Rooms

The over 500 square foot Club Floor guest rooms are larger than the standard guest rooms and feature light-filled tile bathrooms, dark wooden floors, and luxury amenities including Hermes bath products. We viewed rooms on and off of the Hotel Metropole Hanoi Club Floor and preferred the spacious and more luxurious Club Floor accommodation.

Luxe Travel Family’s Travel Tips

  • The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, located walking distance to Hoan Kiem Lake, the Old Quarter, and the Opera House, is well situated for exploring many parts of the city on foot. If you need a taxi, there are plenty outside the Hotel Metropole Hanoi.
  • Visit the Sofitel Legend Hotel Metropole Hanoi website to learn more about the property and the Hotel Metropole Hanoi Club Floor. We paid approximately $200 CDN/night extra for a family of four to stay on the Club Floor.
  • If you are travelling as a family, be sure to ask about the Magnifique Family offer that includes 50% a second room for the children.
  • Apart from the Club Floor amenities, we enjoyed the lush courtyard, heated outdoor pool, and numerous bars and restaurants scattered throughout the Hotel Metropole Hanoi.

Have you stayed on a hotel club floor? Did it offer good value?

  1. What a gorgeous hotel in an amazing city. I always try to stay on a Club Level if possible at these types of hotels, because with breakfast, cocktails, and snacks, it more than pays for itself. After a long period of travel a few years back, we stayed at The Traders Hotel in KL, and basically lived in the lounge, as we were tired and the 40+ degree heat outside made us appreciate the AC (and the views) from the lounge!

Thank you, Drew. I plan to check out Traders Hotel when I visit KL – I love a hotel lounge with a view šŸ™‚

  2. Slightly off topic, but have you stayed in any of Sofitel’s MGallery hotels? I’ll stay in one in a few weeks for the first time. I’m curious to discover what the brand is all about.

Not yet! I am looking at a couple of the MGallery properties in Vietnam. I would love to hear more about your experience.

  3. This looks fabulous. Currently in “booking mode” for hotels in Vietnam and HCMC. Always love club levels – such a great idea. This hotel is already on my list to check out.

  4. Thats luxury! We have yet to go to Hanoi and have plans for the same . Hopefully the plans will come through. I love the idea of all day complimentary lounge šŸ˜‰

  5. The bathroom looks so amazing. I can see myself relaxing in that tub for hours. The selection of food highlighted in your photos look so fresh and healthy and the pool looks so inviting. All in all it looks like a great place for a relaxing luxurious stay.

Thank you so much – The Metropole is a wonderful hotel. I was impressed with the food in the lounge – very fresh and healthy šŸ™‚

  6. I would love to visit Hanoi and now I have found the perfect place to stay!
    Everything you describe looks amazingā¤ļø

  7. The club level rooms seem like a good option, because the breakfast buffet, high tea and cocktail event probably pay for themselves. The room look luxurious and elegant. It is probably out of my price range, but if I was in the market for luxury accommodation, I’d definitely consider the Sofitel!
