Discover Luxury at The Josie Hotel RED Mountain Resort

Penthouse mountain view The Josie Hotel

The Josie, the winner of Canada’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel (and other notable recognitions and accolades), is located at the base of RED Mountain Resort in Rossland, British Columbia (B.C.). This year-round resort offers 106-rooms, including 20 suites and is a member of the prestigious Autograph Collection Hotels. I had the pleasure of spending a few nights at The Josie in early July, and I was planning a return trip before I checked out!

Location – The Josie Hotel at RED Mountain Resort

The luxurious Josie at RED Mountain Resort is about a seven-hour drive from Vancouver or Seattle, almost three hours from Spokane, Washington, and forty minutes from Castlegar’s West Kootenay Regional Airport (YCG). RED Mountain Resort is a five-minute drive above the town of Rossland, so shops, restaurants, and services are nearby if you feel like exploring beyond the mountain community.

RED Mountain Resort, an IKON Pass destination, is in the top 10 in North America when it comes to skiable terrain. Located on B.C.’s Powder Highway, the snow at RED is feather-light and plentiful. It’s no wonder RED and The Josie are popular with skiers and riders, but with one acre per skier, the mountain doesn’t feel crowded during the winter months.

In the summer, the outdoor adventure continues at RED Mountain, and The Josie welcomes hikers, mountain bikers, and nature-lovers who want to stay close to the action. For guests that seek relaxation, mountain-view cedar sauna cabins, assorted board games, and an outdoor terrace offer plenty of loungy options.

Rooms and Suites at The Josie

The pet-friendly, slopeside accommodation includes standard (but well above average) guestrooms, studios, and one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites with village or valley views.

Pillowy-soft beds, fluffy bath robes, cozy slippers, and bespoke bath products strongly encourage rest and relaxation. Given the adventure-rich location, most guests are tempted outdoors. Or at least down to The Velvet Restaurant & Lounge located right about the lobby of The Josie Hotel at RED Mountain Resort.

Dining at The Velvet Restaurant & Lounge

The Velvet Restaurant & Lounge offers indoor and seasonal outdoor seating with close-enough-to-touch mountain views. The locally-inspired food and beverage menus change with the seasons, offering guests an opportunity to continue exploring even when they are back at The Josie.

The cocktail menu includes creative and classic options, so you can order a margarita or try something new. I opted for one of the creative menu items made with butterfly blue gin, sage, lemon, and elderflower liquor. Yum!

The food menu offers a similar variety ā€” choose a favourite with a local twist or try something new. Whatever you decide to eat, sample The Velvet’s bread (served before dinner). It was some of the best I’ve tasted.
