Canyon Estates home madrona entry Modernism Week 2023

From February 12 to 22, 2026, Palm Springs will celebrate all things mid-century during the annual Palm Springs Modernism Week event, featuring more than 450 unique experiences. I’ve experienced several ā€œmini-Modernism Weeksā€ in October. It is a sneak peek at what is to come – and the midcentury architecture, art, design, and cultural celebration will be fabulous in February.

Palm Springs Modernism Week 2026 – Signature Events

Opening Party

For the Modernism Week Opening Night Party on February 12, 2026, the focus is on Modernist Motown with retro soul vibes, nonstop grooves, so pull out your vintage disco attire. Live entertainment and your favourite Motown songs will keep you on the dance floor all night! Take a break and enjoy handcrafted cocktails and food stations from Lulu California Bistro.

Signature Home Tours

Choose a self-guided excursion or join a group to experience Palm Springs culture and midcentury architecture. Tours are available every day during the Modernism Week celebration. Sunnylands Historic House Tour

Join a small group tour of the former 25,000-square-foot residence of Ambassadors Walter and Leonore Annenberg. Tours of this midcentury showpiece will sell out.

Premier Double Decker Architectural Bus Tours

One of my favourite events, the 2.5-hour Premium Double Decker Architectural Bus Tour, will be back in February 2026! Sit back and enjoy the tour of civic, commercial, and residential buildings throughout Palm Springs. From the top level of the bus, you can see into the backyards of many homes.

For a unique experience, purchase tickets for the Twilight Architectural Bus Tour. During this 1.5-hour experience, you’ll view 13 interesting buildings and architecturally significant structures, specially illuminated for Modernism Week. Ā After the tour, guests are invited to visit Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar for complimentary appetizers and cocktails.

Frey House II

The self-guided tour of Frey House II, the residence of modernist architect Albert Frey, returns once again. This popular tour is hosted by the Palm Springs Art Museum and includes complimentary admission to the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Architecture and Design Center. If you are over 21, you might enjoy booking a twilight tour and cocktail reception at Frey II. Frey House II is not ADA accessible.

Modern Garden Tour

Explore six private modern gardens in Palm Springs on theĀ 3-hour Modern Garden Tour. The modern gardens feature drought-tolerant and desert-friendly plants. This activity is family-friendly.
