Flying Drukair Business Class from Bangkok to Paro, Bhutan

Paro is the sole international airport in Bhutan, and it is the operational base of Drukair – Royal Bhutan Airlines. We flew Drukair Business Class from Bangkok to Paro, Bhutan. Here is what you can expect if you travel this route in Drukair Business Class.

Airport Check-in

Arrive as early as possible for the Drukair flights. Weather is a factor because the pilots must fly into Paro using visual flight rules. Durkair flights can depart ahead of schedule because of predicted changes to the weather. The check-in counter in Bangkok opens 2.5 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Business Class Lounge Access

After check-in, Drukair Business Class passengers can access the Sky Lounge at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. Self-serve food in the Sky Lounge included mushroom pie, spinach puff, rice and vegetables, ham and cheese croissants, Asian noodles, and crepes. A selection of hot and cold beverages was available. Our kids enjoyed pastries and juice while we had a glass of pre-flight Champagne.

Drukair Business Class Cabin and Seats

Drukair operated an Airbus A319 aircraft on the scenic flight from Bangkok to Paro. The Drukair A319 Business Class cabin is a two-by-two configuration over four rows. In addition, there are 102 Economy Class seats on this airplane.

The spacious leather Business Class seats have a leg rest and pillow. There is no inflight-entertainment system in the Drukair Business Class cabin. But the views within Bhutan and elsewhere in the Himalayan Mountains are stunning. Be sure to request a window seat when you fly Drukair. I sat on the right side of the airplane on the flight from Bangkok to Paro.

Inflight Food and Drinks

Business Class passengers can select a meal from a menu covered with colourful Bhutanese fabric. The diverse meal selection on our flight from Bangkok to Paro included fresh fruit, cheese omelette, black pepper chicken, and spinach ravioli.

Complimentary non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages were available to Business Class passengers.

Drukair Business Class – Travel Tips
