Fairmont Pacific Rim Gold Floor Review

Fairmont Pacific Rim pool deck

The Fairmont Pacific Rim is the newest addition to the Fairmont hotel portfolio in Vancouver, and the luxurious Fairmont Pacific Rim Gold Floor is a favourite place to stay for many reasons.

Architecture and Design

Designed by James K.M. Cheng, the Fairmont Pacific Rim is elegant, luxurious, and located in a prime position on Vancouver’s waterfront.

If you look up at the South East corner of the building, you will see a line of repeated letters between floors 5 and 22. It’s hard to know where artist Liam Gillick’s passage begins and ends, and my children and I often gaze up at the letters and try to decode the message. I recently cracked the code – with a little help from hotel staff. Liam’s message reads, ‘lying on top of a building the clouds looked no nearer than when I was lying on the street’. Interesting.

Location

Vancouver is a bustling port city, and the Fairmont Pacific Rim offers unobstructed views of Coal Harbour, Stanley Park and the North Shore mountains. During the daytime Vancouver’s harbour comes alive with seaplanes buzzing, freighters belching and ferries chugging through Burrard Inlet. Your front row seat inside the Fairmont Pacific Rim gets you close to the action, without any of the accompanying noise.

The 377 well-designed rooms and suites offer comfortable furnishings, a generous use of natural materials, and state-of-the-art technology.

Gold Floor

Fairmont Gold, the property’s exclusive lifestyle hotel experience located on floors 20 – 22, is a more intimate hotel within the hotel. Fairmont Pacific Rim Gold Floor guests enjoy extra amenities including a dedicated concierge, spacious lounge, as well as complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening canapes.

Giovane Café

Located on the lobby level, Giovane Café is an inviting spot for a meal, quick snack or a little gift shopping. Warning, it is impossible to walk past the tempting Candy Wall without stopping, especially if you are with children.

Lobby Lounge + Raw Bar

The Lobby Lounge + Raw Bar is a favourite spot for a cocktail and pre-dinner snack. Apart from the extensive wine list and delicious sushi, I love the interesting books stacked on the tables, yummy popcorn and massive fireplace.

The Fairmont Pacific Rim Gold Floor is a fabulous hotel within a hotel that the entire family loves to visit. You can design and build a luxury hotel, but without attentive staff, it will never become a special place. The staff on the Fairmont Pacific Rim Gold Floor know how to care for their guests, even the young ones.
