Review: SWISS A330 First Class

High-Quality Travel Gear and Accessories Osprey

Already a fan of the award-winning SWISS Business Class, I was excited to fly in the SWISS A330 First Class cabin on a recent family trip from Zurich to New York.

SWISS A330 First Class Cabin and Seats

As soon as I stepped into the eight-seat SWISS First Class cabin, known simply as SWISS First, I sensed it would be an exceptional journey. The SWISS in-flight team wasn’t busy reviewing passenger lists, clanging about in the galley, or chatting amongst themselves. Instead, they waited to share their genuine hospitality with the approaching travelers.

The sophisticated SWISS First cabin, decorated using charcoal-coloured fabrics with light wood accents and trim, was ready for our arrival – right down to the gender-specific amenity kits placed at each seat. Right up until we reluctantly deplaned in New York, the SWISS A330 First Class experience was perfection.

SWISS A330 First Class Seats

Each of the seats in the Swiss A330 First Class cabin can function as an armchair, a spacious table with plenty of room for two, or a 79″ long bed complete with a comfy mattress.

Inflight Dining and Drinks

Pre-flight service included Laurent-Perrier’s prestigious and delicious Grand Siecle Champagne. The wine menu included offerings from France, Switzerland, and Argentina. I selected an elegant Viognier from the Grillette winery in Switzerland to go with my vegetarian main course.

Swiss First passengers on long-haul flights from Zurich enjoy the exclusive SWISS Taste of Switzerland menu. The trip from Zurich to New York featured a SWISS – Taste of Switzerland menu from the Jura region, where Michelin-starred Chef Jean-Marc Soldati’s cuisine showcases the best seasonal produce.

Appetizers included delicious lobster medallions with basil coulis, courgette salad along with tomato confit, and quinoa and cream cheese tartare with mango salsa.

Main course options were plentiful – saddle of rabbit stuffed with chanterelles and spinach, herb-coated char with chive sauce, beef tenderloin with green pea crust and ox cheek confit, as well tasty linguine with Belper Knolle cheese designed by Hiltl restaurant in Zurich.

Cheese and a tempting selection of desserts followed, including this memorable olive oil cake with candied olives and lemon confit.

Sleep

With the push of a button or two and the addition of a mattress and duvet, the spacious SWISS First Class seat became a bed. As much as I wanted to enjoy the perfect SWISS First hospitality for the entire 9-hour flight, I opted to change into the cotton Zimmerli of Switzerland pajamas and sleep for a few hours.

Amenity Kit

La Prairie skin care products, earplugs, eyeshades, tissues, a wooden hair brush or comb (male amenity kit), tooth brush, tooth paste, and soothing Ricola throat drops were inside the Swiss First amenity kit.

SWISS First Lounge

The new Swiss First Lounge in Zurich is worthy of a long layover or an early arrival at Zurich International Airport (ZRH). Read more about this fabulous lounge here.

Travel Tips – Flying SWISS A330 First Class

  • In Zurich, First Class passengers can use the exclusive SWISS First Lounge (with a Movenpick ice cream cooler) to check-in for their flight.
  • SWISS is a member of the Star Alliance network. As a member of the Aeroplan loyalty program, I often redeem points to fly SWISS.

  1. What an amazing g experience that would have been. It would be difficult to choose between enjoying the hospitality or snuggling into that cozy bed. I don’t think it could have been any better——unless I had been there❤️
